The Motorbike Courier–definitely the Leader of the Package

At one time I worked for a large TV company that constantly required re-writes and re-scheduling.  As I worked at home, it was a common sight for me to see a large

Be-helmeted guy, usually heavily “leathered-up” approaching my front door to collect various packages.  TV Channels favour Shipping companies that collect and deliver fast, because everything has to be done “yesterday”, so a motorbike courier was ideal.  The promotional material for a Motorbike Courier usually advises “If you can’t get a helicopter, we’re the next best thing!”

In the much bruited Recession though, the day of the Motorbike Courier may be waning.  It’s a price-driven market and the cost of fuel and rise of inflation has meant that costs for many operating firms have gone right through the roof.  For a Motorcycle Courier who loves the lifestyle though, it can still generate a good income.

Mostly they don’t drink alcohol, because they never know when the next call will come to send them half way across the country.  They can be transporting anything from a lost laptop to a set of spare keys, a valuable piece of jewellery to a celebrity jacket.  Perhaps the most usual cargo is specialised, urgent documents or in the NHS it can be life saving equipment or even organs.

By its very nature a motorbike goes fast and can weave in and out of traffic (don’t we drivers know it?)  However, for the Motorbike Courier speed is of the essence.  They have been engaged for their speed, reliability and trustworthiness so they simply have to move it!
